I stopped by the launch of The Photocopy Club last night at Create Studios in Brighton.
It was a great night and an excellent exhibition. The walls covered in hundreds of black and white photocopies, all different sizes and subject matters, by different photographers mixed together with no name cards to interupt the flow. You couldn’t keep your eyes off the walls, constantly browsing and searching, and each time coming across another little gem.
I was really impressed by the quality of the photocopies. Particularly in Paul Vickery’s work. The blacks were so deep and velvety in one, that you would never have guessed it was a photocopy, could easily get away with sticking it in a frame and adding it to your collection. And you should, with pride.
I left wanting to buy at least 7 images and with them being between 3 and 20 quid they’re definitely a bargain.
Big thanks to Sailor Jerry for supporting this night (the first of many) and thank you to Matt for doing this, its a great idea and I look forward to the next one.
